Haja Wurie speaks about Ebola in Sierra Leone
ReBUILD’s Dr Haja Wurie from the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences in Freetown, Sierra Leone, was been involved in research on health worker incentives and experiences, before and throughout the Ebola outbreak.
In this video, made by the COUNTDOWN research consortium to bring together health systems researchers and implementers in Ebola-affected countries, Haja shared her insights on health system reconstruction in Sierra Leone. Amongst other things, Haja talked about the impact of Ebola on Sierra Leone’s health system, including the health workforce, key steps in rebuilding the health system, including issues of trust between communities and the health system, the role of vertical programmes like neglected tropical disease (NTD) control programmes in supporting health systems strengthening, and some of the key issues for health systems research post-Ebola.
Many thanks to our colleagues at COUNTDOWN for making this video and sharing with us.
