Health sector policy responses for human resources for health during COVID-19

This presentation – Health sector policy responses for human resources for health during COVID-19 – was given as part of a webinar on human resources for health in crises contexts.

Health workforce under stress: impact of crises on human resources for health and the policy responses was hosted by Health System Global’s Thematic Working Group on Health Systems in Fragile and Conflict-Affected Settings [join them via LinkedIn]. Sushil Baral of HERD International presented a ReBUILD case study looking at the impact of COVID-19 and federalisation in Nepal’s health system, how individual health workers adapted, and the policies enacted to support them.

You can watch the full webinar – which included a case study on Venezuelan migrants in Ecuador and a presentation on evidence of policy responses to rebuilding an effective health workforce in conflict-affected settings – here. [opens new tab]

This presentation is based on the study Understanding health system resilience to respond to COVID-19 in a federalised context: a case study of health workforce management at sub-national level in Nepal. There’s more on that research and other outputs here.
