Report of Sierra Leone Human Resources for Health Summit 2-3 June 2016
From June 2-3, 2016, ReBUILD partners from College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, took part in the Human Resources for Health Summit in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
The Summit was convened by Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MoHS), with support from the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) and the World Health Organization (WHO). It aimed to provide a platform for experts on HRH to share experiences and expertise on best practices and policies for strengthening HRH policy and strategy (across the spectrum from doctors to community health workers) as well as create an opportunity for relevant stakeholders to discuss and agree on key policy pathways for improving HRH. In short, the Summit kick-started a policy process to refresh and relaunch Sierra Leone’s HRH Policy and Strategic Plan by the end of 2016.
